Nidek EC 5000

This laser has a lot of coupling of sphere and cylinder such that the sphere has to be reduced more with increasing cyl. The nomogram for the "ordinary" Nidek EC-5000 is on an Excel spreadsheet at EC5000. Roughly, you have to add  30-40% onto the cylinder and take 40% of the original cylinder off the sphere.

e.g. -2 / -2 x 180 would be entered into the laser as -1.2 / -2.8 x 180. This only applies as long as no other nomogram is already put on the laser (F5 or "Nidek standard" ). However, every surgeon has to develop his/her own nomogram for each machine as they all vary slightly.
